In 2004, Raven Software surprised a lot of people with X-Men Legends, an action role-playing game focusing on the exploits of Marvel's mutant superheroes. The Diablo-style gameplay was a significant departure for Raven, a developer best known for its extensive work on first-person shooters. Ominous deeds are afoot right from the start in Marvel: Ultimate Alliance. Dr. Doom has brought together a coalition of supervillains under the Masters of Evil name, whose first act is to attack a S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier. An opposing coalition of superheroes quickly comes to the aid of S.H.I.E.L.D. director Nick Fury, who takes command of the situation and coordinates the superheroes as they continue to track Doom and his minions across the universe and into different dimensions. The sheer quantity of Marvel supervillains you'll face on your quest to defeat Dr. Doom is genuinely staggering. Heavy hitters like Ultron, the Mandarin, Mephisto, Loki, and Galactus all play major roles, but there's still room for lower-profile villains like M.O.D.O.K., Fin Fang Foom, Arcade, Grey Gargoyle, Blackheart, Super Skrull, and literally dozens of others. There are a couple of truly excellent twists and turns, and the story does a good job of concealing the true nature of Dr. Doom's plans until just the right moment. Some of the finer points, such as the excess of long-winded expository speeches in between levels, don't stand up to close scrutiny so well, but the narrative is successful in keeping the game moving at a fast clip.

Description:
Marc Eckō's Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure is a video game released on February 14, 2006. It was developed by The Collective, Inc. and published by Atari under license by Marc Ecko. There were two editions of the game, one being a limited edition and the other being the normal release.
The game focuses on an amateur graffiti artist known as Trane who uses graffiti and tagging as a way to protest against the corrupt Dystopic city of New Radius, in a future world where freedom of expression is suppressed by a tyrannical, Orwellian city government. The "Contents Under Pressure" title obviously refers to the warning found on most aerosol spray paint cans.
The gameplay is set up like a non-linear fighting game; the story progresses in a linear fashion, without the player needing to complete side missions, as in Grand Theft Auto 3, but a certain amount of freedom and open-endedness is available to the player as they complete "Tag Wars" in the first part of the game.
The musical score for the game was produced by underground hip hop artist RJD2.

In addition to everything that made the arcade original a worldwide hit, the Xbox version of METAL SLUG 3 will have some brand new features and original missions accessible once you've cleared certain conditions. Players can choose from over 10 new slug vehicles exclusive to METAL SLUG 3, including the Slug Copter and the very unusual Elephant Slug, which comes completeMake no mistake, Metal Slug 3 is about as complex as 2 + 0, but it's a lot more fun than any math equation. This is a balls-to-the-walls 2D side-scrolling shooter. Taking place across five missions, you choose from one of four heroes (though don't expect any different gameplay experience between the four) and spend all of your time shooting and dodging. Though you begin with only a basic hand gun (you'll have to tap X constantly to keep up your rate of fire) it's easy to come across new weapons by defeating enemies and freeing hostages.
Some weapons, like the Heavy Machinegun, offer a steady stream of gunfire, but others are more inventive, such as the Enemy Chaser missiles, which track down onscreen enemies and deal devastating damage. There are also 10 vehicles you can hop into throughout your journey, though "vehicles" is a rather loose term as you'll be hopping on the back of elephants and camels along with riding a mini-sub, helicopter, and jet fighter. The controls, even in the vehicles, never really change. It's basic, but that's the beauty of Metal Slug 3. You shoot, toss grenades, and jump. That's pretty much it outside of the Metal Slug attack, which is performed from a vehicle when you want to send it into a suicide ram with an enemy.
The Xbox version of Slug 3 allows for both Thumbstick and D-Pad aiming, which is helpful, with the Thumbstick the better alternative. Though many of your shots are done straight ahead (you can shoot lower by crouching) there are enough times where you'll need to aim diagonally up or straight up that the ability to quickly swivel your aim is a solid asset.
The five separate missions offer different settings and each has its own feel to it. While the initial desert mission may be a bit plain, the others pick things up. My favorite is the second level, which pits you against zombies. If you're hit by their mutant loogies you turn zombie yourself, unable to jump and barely able to move faster than a snail with asthma. You do earn an interesting grenade function, which has you projectile vomiting a line of blood at your enemies. It should be noted that unlike the arcade version, the blood is red and plentiful on Xbox -- so hey, that's one big improvement.
Metal Slug 3 is f'ing difficult, just as tough as in the arcades, so it helps that you can play co-op with a buddy, even if it's on the same machine. n a surprising move, a trial for the PC version of Mega Man X8 came out even before the full game was released. The full game feels very much like a native PC game instead of the Playstation 2 port that it really is. The Japanese version happens to include both Japanese and English modes, the latter turning the game in the whole "Mega Man" experience (voices and text included). The English version has the Japanese voices available as well, but the text is only found in English. The Korean edition happens to have both voice sets, along with the text in Korean, English, and a few European languages.

Budget shooters confuse me. I understand there's a demographic of gamers with low-end machines, but the rickety production values don't ever stop there. In addition to the game looking decidedly dated, Marine Sharpshooter II also suffers from dated game mechanics while throwing in a couple additional hang-ups for good measure.
The premise isn't bad, since it offers access into a niche not covered in much depth by other games. You play a Marine sniper who's been tasked with rescuing president of Burundi, with civil war hanging on the line. Features include weather effects, day and night missions, air strikes, a stealth meter, and a few other goodies. Doesn't sound bad on paper.
But there are graphics problems beyond blurry textures and blocky objects. Water is a flat, transparent texture, which is unfortunate because you're going to be seeing and wading through a lot of it. And while the jungle sections feature an impressive amount of foliage, the bushes that line your path are bulletproof and impassable. It's handy for cover, until you realize that the reason you can't hit a guy standing 100 feet away is because your reticule is aiming into a leaf pixel right in front of you, making the shot impossible. So although it looks like you're fighting in a jungle, all those bushes and trees have the properties of concrete, making for frustrating shots when the enemy is weaving his way through them towards you.
But the AI isn't too challenging. In fact, it would be safe to say that the AI is a throwback to about 1995. There's guards not reacting when someone standing right next to them gets popped, lots of suicidal standing around in the middle of a firefight, little effort in finding cover, no use of grenades, and generally kamikaze behavior. It's more like Whack-a-Mole than anything else as you jog through the jungle, pausing briefly every once in a while to sight and cap someone. You'll be hit with the occasional ambush and tripwire, but there aren't really many set pieces to speak of. The game falls somewhere between Black Hawk Down: Team Sabre and Far Cry in pacing and feel, but there's almost nothing to give the player a sense of story momentum. You go through the motions for five to ten minutes until you get to an arbitrary crossing point, where the screen fades out and loads the next "mission," which is just more jogging and firing until you get to the next crossing point.
You'll have a teammate who'll irregularly flag enemies on your compass with an X, get stuck inside trees and occasionally stop following you for no particular reason. He has his own stock of apparently underpowered rifle rounds and health packs and will occasionally request that you stop so he can heal himself, but he never does, even when he's low, and can you heal him with one of the numerous health packs littering the narrowly-defined jungle corridors lined with concrete bushes and carved by slopes that you really should be able to scale but are nevertheless too steep.
Since you're a sharpshooter and will be almost exclusively sighting from long range, the weapon loadout is also underwhelming. You have the rifle, a pistol, and a tactically useless survival knife. The pistol is handy for the rare times the enemy closes the distance, but not as much as you think, since you can't switch weapons while going through the agonizing motions of reloading the rifle. The pistol also sounds like a pop gun and the rifle doesn't really echo.
Then there's the control scheme, a horribly innovative design where you can't simply toggle the scope with the right mouse button and zoom in and out with the scroll wheel. Instead, you sight by scrolling the mouse wheel, cancel sighting by clicking the middle mouse wheel, and use right-clicking for secondary fire, which won't exist on any weapon for the bulk of the game. You can remap all of this, but you can't et up the standard scheme, since using your scope and not using your scope are two separate commands, instead of clicking once to use it and clicking it again to return to your normal view.
